French authorities have detained legendary actor Gerard Depardieu for questioning following accusations of sexual assault by two women. The 75-year-old, known for his prolific career spanning over 200 films, faces allegations dating back to incidents on film sets in 2014 and 2021.
Depardieu’s legal team has not yet responded to requests for comment on the recent allegations. The first accuser, a member of the crew on a 2022 film, alleges that Depardieu groped her and made lewd remarks. Another woman claims similar misconduct during a 2015 film shoot.
These accusations add to a previous rape charge against Depardieu, as well as numerous assault claims from other women, which he vehemently denies. Despite the severity of the allegations, some complaints have been dropped due to statute limitations.
