An American backpacker is stretching his dollar in Thailand.
Mike Rari discovered a $1-per-night Airbnb room in Bangkok, which he documented in a video on Instagram and YouTube titled “What’s Inside a $1 Airbnb?”
Giving a tour of the lodging he found, Rari, 22, began, “U.S. flag so you feel right at home,” after entering the tiny abode by climbing a ladder.
“Outlet and Wi-Fi. A little bit cramped in here,” he added, before stepping outside, climbing back down the ladder and continuing to show off the amenities, which were primarily outdoors.
“Laundry. Workout station. This is the kitchen. Got a rice cooker, boiler, shared refrigerator for all Airbnb guests,” he detailed.
Then highlighting the shower — a bucket he could fill with water and a ladle he could use to pour it — Rari said, “[It’s] not much of a shower.”

After sharing his lodging experience on social media, Rari’s followers were surprised by some of the things he showed during his quick tour.
“That’s wild that they can offer Wi-Fi and all that for just one dollar,” one person on YouTube commented, while another wrote, “This is a shack.”
One user on Instagram said, “Shared fridge is crazy!”

Rari started vlogging about his Thailand trip on Aug. 12 after being there for a month and half.
After posting the Airbnb video on Aug. 18, he has shared videos about renting a scooter for $6 for six hours, eating a Kratom leaf and stepping into the “hot tub”-like waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
Rari tells PEOPLE he didn’t mind the sharing aspect of his stay. “I had a really great time,” he says. “I enjoyed the company of the other people who were staying there as there were seven other rooms. It definitely wasn’t luxury, but cool to experience.”
“My favorite part was hanging out with the host, as he doesn’t host people for the sake of making money, but being able to meet new friends from all around the world,” he adds.
