Karine Jean-Pierre says her daughter Soleil is a White House aficionado.
“When she comes to the White House, she easily can give you a tour,” the White House press secretary exclusively told PEOPLE earlier this year at the Truth Awards. “It’s actually very funny to hear her speak about that.”
As for one spot that she thinks her daughter, whom she shares with ex Suzanne Malveaux, loves the most about the landmark, Jean-Pierre said, “My guess is probably the Oval Office.”
“Because she’s in awe of it, and she’s had an opportunity to visit,” Jean-Pierre, 49, added. “So my guess is that, but I would have to ask her.”

During the event, Jean-Pierre was honored with the history maker award.
“I’m completely honored and just blown away by all the people that I’m included with today and getting awards,” she said at the time. “Sometimes I’m like, ‘What am I doing here? Why am I included with all of them?’ But I know how important representation is. I know what all of us mean to young girls and boys out there who look to our community. So it’s completely an honor, and I’m in awe.”

Jean-Pierre added that she also knows that she wouldn’t be where she is today if it weren’t for others who came before her.
“I always think, too, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the people before me who broke barriers,” she explained. “I learned from their excellence, I learned from their experience, and I stand on their shoulders.”
Jean-Pierre and broadcast journalist Malveaux, 57, called off their decade-long relationship in 2023.
In an interview with Vogue, Jean-Pierre described becoming a single mom as “challenging” yet they are making it work together, noting, “I’m a single mom who is co-parenting this amazing kid.”
