On Thursday, March 13, Netflix released the trailer for the Emmy award-winning series’ highly anticipated return. The star-studded cast includes Awkwafina, Milanka Brooks, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Billy Magnussen, Rosy McEwen, Cristin Milioti, Chris O’Dowd, Issa Rae, Will Poulter, Paul G. The trailer begins with Milioti, 39, waking up with a gasp while O’Dowd, 45, and Jones, 49, place a flat, circular device on their temples.

“They call it mind-expanding,” Giamatti’s character explains. “It alters your neural structure. The mind is a computer.”

Once activated, the device seems to send each user into a trance-like state. Their consciousnesses are uploaded to a larger system and users enter a virtual reality plane.

“Suddenly, they’re not just more receptive. You become a receiver,” Giamatti ominously continues.

The trailer shifts and sees Rae, 40, declare she wants something “magical, timeless.” She enters an AI-generated world where she meets Corrin’s vintage character in black and white.

“We have to create software that elevates us. Otherwise, what is the f—ing point of the tools at our disposal?” Poulter, 32, asks while Giamatti, 57, takes a drill to the back of his head.

“Humans consider artificial life to be somehow less than them,” Giamatti says to the camera.

The clip then teases what fans can expect in this action-packed season. Jones can be seen having an episode in her car, Milioti is bloody and holds a creepy smile while dressed in a hospital gown and Rae declares, “It’s a game!”
