Zooey Deschanel Reveals Who Is the ‘Passenger Princess’ in Relationship with Fiancé Jonathan Scott (Exclusive) ArticlePure

Zooey Deschanel is revealing who plays the “passenger princess” role in her relationship with fiancé Jonathan Scott.

“We both contribute a lot, just in different ways,” the 44-year-old actress tells PEOPLE exclusively in an interview about her new partnership with Vera Bradley.

“I’m obsessive about packing everyone’s suitcases down to the second — I want to be fully prepared for everything,” she continues. “Jonathan, on the other hand, excels at logistics, planning our schedules, and managing itineraries.”

Deschanel adds that Scott, 46, ensures everything is well taken care of, including time management.

“So I feel like we both carry our weight,” says the mother of two children — daughter Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6 — whom she shares with her ex-husband, Jacob Pechenik.

“As for who’s the passenger princess? That would be my children — they just enjoy the ride and eat the snacks,” she adds.

In May, while chatting exclusively with PEOPLE about HGTV’s Backed by the Bros, Scott shared more about the couple’s upcoming nuptials, including their must-haves for their special day.

“We know that the most important thing for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones,” Scott said about their wedding. “And we’re not planning to do a crazy, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be pretty intimate.”

“We will probably throw another party just for friends here locally,” he added.

The couple first met in 2019, while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke with Scott’s twin brother Drew and Deschanel’s sister Emily.

After four years of dating, Scott got down on one knee while he and Deschanel were on a family vacation in Scotland in August 2023. Elsie and Charlie also played a role in the special moment. 

“Forever starts now,” the couple wrote in a joint post on Instagram after the proposal.
