Why Steph Curry Says Dunk During Warriors-76ers Game ‘Will Probably Be My Last’ ArticlePure

Steph Curry’s first dunk in six years may have been his last.

The Golden State Warriors star, 36, wowed fans when he slammed down a dunk over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, March 1 — but Curry said it’s unlikely he’ll attempt the impressive move in any future games.

“That will probably be my last dunk,” Curry told reporters after the game, which Philadelphia won 126-119, according to CNN. “I’m calling it right now. That was the last one you’re going to see,” he reiterated.

The four-time NBA champ told reporters he’s “been feeling pretty good” physically as the second-half of the season begins. “I’ve been doing some knee stuff all year. And you want to take advantage of a cherry-pick opportunity,” he said.

But Curry also added that “it took everything out of me to get up there.”

Curry was able to recall his last dunk before the one on Saturday, telling reporters, “Six years ago. At home. Right wing. The right corner. A little back cut. I think it was a pass from KD [Kevin Durant].”

He also noted that the previous dunk happened at the Oracle, the Warriors former home arena. And since Saturday’s game was on the road in Philadelphia, Curry said. “I never dunked at Chase [Center]. How about that?”

The Warriors star revealed that it was assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse who put the idea in his head to dunk during the game on Saturday. “Ironically, this morning at shooter run, Stackhouse said he wanted to see a dunk,” Curry said.

“He hadn’t said that all year and I haven’t heard that in years and it happened tonight which is kind of funny. It was a very random comment this morning,” he continued.

Next, Curry and the Warriors will take on the Charlotte Hornets at Chase Center in California on Monday, March 3.
