Whitney Port Gives Update on Fertility Journey Ahead of IVF Egg Retrieval ArticlePure

Whitney Port is getting candid about how she feels ahead of her egg retrieval.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, The Hills alum, 39, opened up to her fans about the mixed feelings she’s experiencing about her upcoming procedure.

“As I go into my egg retrieval, I wanted to share an honest update about how I’m feeling, and honestly, I’m feeling awful,” wrote Port on Instagram. “It’s not the physical discomfort (which totally sucks- bloating, bruising, swelling, heaviness) but the emotional discomfort.”

The With Whit podcast host said that “the hormones are making me feel like I can’t manage anything, like everything is just the worst,” and expressed that she’s nervous she won’t get any “quality” eggs from the procedure.

“I’m scared,” she confessed. “My energy is non existent and I feel like I’m not showing up the way I should as a wife, mom, sister, friend, co-worker, etc. My stomach feels up in my throat and I’m on the verge of tears/actual tears all day.”

While The City alum expressed that she’s felt different emotions each day, she thanked her fans for their continuous “support and words of encouragement.”

“I’ll be ready to return to gratitude soon, but I am just not there yet with so much up in the air. That may be pessimistic, but I don’t want to force any feelings either,” she wrote.

Port is a mom to son Sonny Sanford, 7, with her husband, Tim Rosenman. The fashion designer, who has been open about her “long and trying” fertility journey, previously told PEOPLE that she had her first miscarriage when Sonny was 2 years old.

“The first time, I was someone who got pregnant very easily. Then, the second time around, we’ve just struggled. There’s been miscarriage after miscarriage,” she told PEOPLE in April.

Since trying for baby number two, Port has experienced three miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy. After turning to surrogacy, her surrogate had two losses of her own.

Port told PEOPLE she’s opted to talk about her journey because it can be “so isolating.”

“So many women go through it and each experience is so unique and a lot of women feel like they don’t really have the space to to talk about it. So, for me, filming this and sharing this felt very liberating,” she said.
