Virgo season will mark some big changes for the sign of the maiden.
“Virgos can expect in mid-to-late August to be either solidifying their union with someone or potentially having second thoughts and realizing that that relationship doesn’t really have longevity at this point,” astrologist and psychic Evan Nathaniel Grim tells PEOPLE.
Those aren’t the only changes the sign can expect, with big resets on the career front happening in early September and a reset of money and values, thanks to the new moon on Sept. 2.
As a sign known for its dedication to routine and predictability, such major shake-ups might seem daunting to the steadfast Virgo.
The 2024 season is here to prove that change isn’t always a bad thing, however. “If I was a virgo I would feel pretty optimistic about this coming season,” Grim predicts.
Keep reading to find out more about what Virgo season has in store, the official dates it encompasses and more.
Virgo season will start one day earlier in 2024 than it did in 2023 according to Grim. “In 2024, [the zodiac] enters the sun of Virgo on Aug. 22, at 7:55 a.m. Pacific time,” he says. “It will be in Virgo until Sept. 22 of 2024 at 5:43 a.m.”
As Grim explains, the reason for the shift, which occurs annually, is correlated to the relationship between the sun and the Earth. “[The start of a Virgo season] depends on when exactly the sun moves into 0 degrees and 0 minutes of Virgo,” he says. “The sun enters the sign … at a different, specific time each year.”
He adds: “It really comes down to the way that we measure the movement and the position of the planets … in the sky.”
As the second sign of the zodiac to be ruled by Mercury, Grim says Virgo builds upon themes set forth by its predecessor, Gemini, which is ruled by the same planet.
Unlike Geminis, however, who Grim says are generally curious, seeking to learn about broad topics, Virgos may choose to “hyperfixate” on specific subject matter. “Virgo is distilling it down into … a really hyper-specialized branch of knowledge that it wants to build an expertise around,” he tells PEOPLE.
According to the former data analyst, Virgos will often go about acquiring that knowledge in a very methodical way. “Virgos are known for being very on top of a process,” he says. “Really, the goal of a Virgo, I think, is … continuous improvement, but aiming toward perfection, and achieving that perfection through a typically very regimented daily routine.”
He adds: “They prefer to work on something consistently every day.”
In addition to their desire to master knowledge through routine, Grim says Virgos are often concerned with “health, and the optimization of health. Virgos will be more likely to pay attention to their nutrition, their diet, their exercise.”
Virgos are Earth signs, and as such, Grim says they’ll be greatly supported by partners with zodiac signs of Taurus, Capricorn or their own sign of Virgo. “Other earth elements … would be compatible with Virgo,” he explains.
According to Grim, these pairings work because signs born under this element have “a similar temperament and orientation to life. They’re more concrete,” he says. “They’re very practical in a way. Very pragmatic.”
Finding Virgo’s perfect match isn’t completely cut and dry, however. “Water signs would also be compatible [with Virgo], because earth and water elements sit within the yin duality,” Grim says. “Earth and water are feminine elements, while fire and air are masculine elements.”
He concludes: “Anything within the feminine polarity would mesh with Virgo.”
That means watery Scorpios and Cancers could be potential mates for the sign, as could Pisces — the sign directly opposite Virgo on the zodiac wheel. “Pisces is standing out as a particularly compatible sign because they are opposites,” Grim says. “They’re both mutable signs within the feminine polarity. They’re balancing each other. Virgo gets sort of subatomic and detailed … and Pisces reminds the Virgo to universalize things.”
According to Grim, the signs that would be less compatible with Virgo would generally be other signs that fall within the masculine polarity, including the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius and the air signs of Libra and Aquarius.
That said, Grim is intrigued by the possibility of an Aquarius and Virgo match. “Based on astrological principles, those two signs are not compatible, but … based on what I”ve seen in the field, I do think Virgo and Aquarius can make for a very quirky … almost kind of genius pairing,” he says.
As Grim explains, Aquarius signs tend to have very “avant-garde” ideas that Virgo can help give structure to in order to help bring them to life.
Additionally, Virgo’s ruling planet of Mercury is similar in nature to Aquarius’. “Uranus is the planet that rules Aquarius … and Uranus is actually the higher octave of Mercury,” Grim says.
When it comes to famous Virgos, Grim points to a clear-cut theme among them. “A lot of comedians are actually Virgos,” he says. “A lot of … the funniest people in the world are Virgos.”
Citing Bill Murray, Adam Sandler, Dave Chappelle, Kat Williams, Whitney Cummings and Lewis Black as examples, Grim says he believes that this sign stands out as being “especially sardonic. Virgos … have this quirky sense of humor because they can be sort of self-deprecating, and … that’s a type of comedy that really resonates with people,” he reasons. “Virgos will notice the … little oddities in life that other people don’t, and they will poke fun at themselves, but they will also poke fun at other people and point out all of their sort of weird behaviors.”
Beyond that, Grim says Virgos are very dedicated to their craft. “The example that always comes to my mind is Kobe Bryant,” he says. “Kobe Bryant … was a basketball player who dedicated his whole life to the sport and he really prided himself on his technique.”
Added Grim: “He really excelled and went above and beyond in terms of his workout routines and … his focus on the sport.”
Also among Grim’s top picks for famous Virgos? The Queen Bee. “Beyoncé has demonstrated throughout her career that she’s fiercely dedicated to performing and writing music,” the astrologer says. “She clearly invests tons of time and energy into her pursuits.”
In 2024, Grim says Virgos should expect to make choices regarding the people they surround themselves with. “One of the dominant themes this year is commitments within significant relationships,” he says. “Virgos … are going to be faced with very massive decisions about who they want to be in an alliance with or in a relationship with.”
Adds Grim: “That can cover the dimensions of their professional life, their romantic life or … their platonic connections,” he says.
“The astrologer notes that the shift will come as a result of Venus’ opposition to Saturn as it transits Virgo while Saturn continues to transit Pisces. “Some of those decisions will probably coincide with … the later stage of Leo season technically, but Virgos are very much implicated in that transit and that aspect between those planets,” Grim says.
Additionally, Virgos can expect to see some change in their careers — albeit for the better. “Another thing that Virgos will be benefiting from is they will find more career success,” Grim says.
According to Grim, the power of those Mars and Jupiter transiting through Gemini “can activate Virgos’ careers,” allowing them to advance, whether that means moving up the ladder at their current job, starting a new one or even branching out on their own. “I think that’s a bright spot for Virgos,” Grim says.
As for the timing of those shifts, the psychic is looking to early September. “I think a lot of Virgos will actually be starting new jobs in the beginning of September.”
According to Grim, this time is most likely, since Venus will be transiting Libra at that point in Virgo’s second house of money. Venus will also be aligned with the South node, which can “clear out you know prior sources of income — but not in a bad way,” Grim shares.
In addition, the new moon on Sept. 2 is a date for Virgos to mark in their calendars. “I think that [the] Virgo new moon can be really a refresh and a reset for Virgos in a number of areas,” Grims says. “If they happen to be one of those Virgos that ends up breaking off a relationship, then I think that there is a silver lining here, which is that [the] new moon can be … their kind of reboot.”
