Uncertainty is in the air as The Ultimatum: Queer Love makes its highly anticipated return.
A first look at season 2 of the hit Netflix series sees a group of women and non-binary people who are in relationships where one person wants to get married and the other does not. After issuing an ultimatum, the six couples put everything on the line in hopes of finding clarity about how to move forward.
“In just over eight weeks, each couple will either get married, or get out, after they each choose new potential partners in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different futures,” the official synopsis reads.
If the start of the trailer is any indication of the rest of the season, there will be no shortage of drama, as 29-year-old Pilar makes a tearful confession to girlfriend of 10 years Hayley, also 29.

“My worst fear was that I would get to a point that I was ready, and you were falling in love with someone else,” she says. “Now it’s happening.”
Each couple is experiencing their own issues that led them into the experiment. For Mel and Marie, both 27, it’s external factors.
“My family doesn’t want me to be with a woman,” Mel reveals as Marie says she wants a family soon and will “move on” if Mel can’t “be brave” as they mark four years of dating.

Britney, 27, has a similar outlook on her relationship with 28-year-old AJ.
“I don’t want to waste time,” Britney says. “You’re it, let’s do this. Either you wanna marry me or you don’t.”
For three weeks, the couples will switch partners and learn what it feels like to live with someone else. Then, they will reunite with their original partners to make a final decision.
This proves to be a difficult process for some, when Magan, 27, contemplates walking away from her year-and-a-half relationship with Dayna, 25.
“I don’t know if I can get past certain things if they were to happen,” Magan explains.

Britney and AJ also share an emotional moment, with Britney admitting, “I just hope that me bringing you here wasn’t a mistake.”
Tensions reach an all-time high as the trailer comes to an end when allegations of cheating within the experimental couples surface. Someone even begins to believe that “it’s definitely possible to fall in love with two people.”
“My heart is shattered,” one participant then yells before another declares: “I can’t believe I wanted to marry you!”
