Danny O’Donoghue popped the question!
The Script frontman, 43, proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Anais Naing, earlier in August, per The Sun.
O’Donoghue took Naing to the Seven Sisters waterfall in Norway, where he asked her to marry him.
He told The Sun that the couple hiked up to their “favorite place on earth,” the top of the mountain which “faces the most beautiful waterfall in the world.”
O’Donoghue revealed that he snuck the engagement goodies in his bag. “I nearly passed out from exhaustion carrying up all the champagne, glasses and food for if she said yes,” he recalled, adding, “I had to do it all without her knowing.”
The Irish singer also spoke about how certain he is about building a life with the French events manager. “When you know, you know… I knew when it wasn’t right, but now I know whatever that is, that it’s 100 percent right,” he told Sunday World.
Naing lived in London when she and O’Donoghue first met — and has since been teaching him French. The musician told The Sun that they met during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding, “If you’ve been with anybody through COVID-19, it’s like you compress 10 years into those years.”
“You learn everything, all the good bits, mostly the bad bits, and if you get through those moments… I don’t know if it’s a rite of passage, if you’ve made it through those few years then you know,” he added.
The pair went public with their romance in 2021, and that year, O’Donoghue told the Irish Independent: “We actually live in the same part of London, and up until now, we’ve mainly just been hanging out at home.”
He added that his family immediately gave their seal of approval. “My mum loved her, and they offered her lots of tea,” he recalled.

The couple’s engagement news follows the Aug. 16 release of The Script’s seventh studio album, Satellites.
The band’s latest album drop came more than a year after guitarist and band co-founder Mark Sheehan died following a brief illness in April 2023 at the age of 46.

O’Donoghue told PEOPLE earlier this month that he turned to drinking and smoking as a coping mechanism amid his grief, but since late December 2023, he has been sober.
“Music is about the truth. I chose to be very open and very upfront about it because I have to be. I just lost my best mate of 30 years,” he said of Sheehan. “Everybody knows I’m hurting. I have an opportunity here to tell people through my experience what I did to get right.”
“I’m going through a really, really tough time,” O’Donoghue added. “I think I’m handling it in the best way I possibly can.”
