Sister Wives’ Janelle Brown Admits It’s ‘Taken Awhile to Accept’ Late Son Garrison’s Death ArticlePure

Moving on from her son Garrison’s death hasn’t been easy for Janelle Brown.

On May 5, the Sister Wives star, 56, reflected on returning to Flagstaff, Arizona since her late son’s death in March 2024. Alongside a black and white photo of him kissing her on the cheek, she opened up about how far she’s come in her grieving process.

“It’s taken awhile to accept the fact that, in the end, we did everything we could,” Janelle began in the caption. “Sometimes the mind convinces someone there’s no hope, even when all the evidence says otherwise.”

“Being in Flagstaff this past week brought a deep awareness of how much I need this new chapter—somewhere different. Everywhere I looked, I could see traces of Garrison,” she continued, thanking her children and “grandbabies” for helping her through hard times.

“Because of my faith, I know I’ll be reunited with Garrison one day. That promise brings me immense comfort,” she concluded.

The emotional post comes after the May 4 episode of Sister Wives, where the Brown family recalled hearing that Garrison had died by suicide after Gabriel, his younger brother, found him in his Flagstaff apartment.

Fans saw Janelle have a conversation with her sister Carrie about her new home in North Carolina and how she and her children have been faring since Garrison’s death.

“We all are starting to have a lot more frank conversations about mental health,” Janelle said of her kids, before adding that Gabriel was “doing okay.”

“Now I have the big job of getting his house ready and all that stuff,” she continued, referring to the Flagstaff property where Garrison lived.

Carrie responded, “Well, with closing the house and the kids moving out and selling everything, that kind of closes that chapter.”

As both sisters appeared to get emotional, Janelle tried to say, “We got home from the property the other day,” but trailed off as she began to choke up. With tears in her eyes, her sister added, “Yeah, our Gare Bear. You know it’s going to take some time, right?”

In a conversation with cameras, Janelle explained that the grief over her son’s death sometimes catches her off guard, but she’s grateful to be in North Carolina during the mourning process.

“Sometimes it catches you at a more raw moment for sure,” she said. “I’m glad that I’m here now versus still in Flagstaff.”
