Taraji P. Henson couldn’t possibly host the 2024 BET Awards in just one glam outfit.
Of course, she had to rock multiple!
The Oscar-nominated actress shut down the red carpet in a show-stopping dress and never looked back.
To kick off the night, Henson, 53, hit the carpet at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles wearing a custom gold Balmain gown with chainmail detailing. She teamed the gilded design with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, Betsey Johnson heels and a chic side-swept bob plus a smoky makeup look.
Styled by the legendary duo Wayman and Micah, Henson then started her hosting duties in another look, this one way more casual. She opened up the show with a rap performance dressed in a red hoodie, jeans and sneakers before changing into a dressy white look.
She floated across the stage with confidence — this is her third go-round after all — in her third number of the night, a white beaded mini dress worn with layers of pearl necklaces and an embellished collar-style choker necklace, plus a white gauzy shawl and strappy heels.

Henson continued to switch things up, wearing everything from a read snakeskin bustier with brown snakeskin pants while playing the banjo to a strapless black-and-white floral dress with red accents worn with red gloves.

Henson didn’t slow down with the style serve, next mixing it up in a dark denim romper worn with an oversize double-buckle belt and shredded denim coat. She added double diamond chain necklaces and even changed her nails to a denim blue hue.
She double down on the mini moments in a neon green strapless tube dress with a hip embellishment.
Ahead of the show, she said in a statement that she was “looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”
“Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host Culture’s Biggest Night, BET Awards, the ultimate celebration of Black creativity,” Connie Orlando, executive vice president Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET said in a statement. “We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night.”
The last time Henson hosted the show in 2014, she wore a whopping 14 outfits — because she is nothing if not impressive when it comes to her style.
She told PEOPLE in 2022 that the live aspect of the show was one of her favorite things about it. “I love live theater,” the Color Purple star said. “It’s so exciting. I love it. You have to be witty, you have to have a lot of stamina and you have to think quick on your feet. Because like I said, things can change at a drop of a dime. You got to be ready to go with the flow.”
The 2024 BET Awards airs on June 30 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
