Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva looked as glamorous as ever as they celebrated Gere’s latest achievement.
The Pretty Woman star and the activist attended the amfAR Gala during the 81st Venice International Film Festival on Sunday, Sept. 1.
For the occasion, Gere, who turned 75 on Saturday, Aug. 31, opted for a classic tuxedo with a black bowtie. Silva, 41, meanwhile, wore a sheer dress adorned with large shimmering navy blue flowers. She completed the halter-style gown with dangling earrings and matching heels.
Also on Sunday, the couple attended the Wolfs red carpet premiere, which warranted a wardrobe change.
Silva slipped into a flowing white evening gown with an asymmetrical slit, paired with metallic strappy heels.
Silva wore her hair down for both chic ensembles. In one photo on the red carpet ahead of the movie premiere, Gere could be seen bowing down to his wife while she gazed at him.
Gere’s 24-year-old son, Homer, joined them at one point on the carpet, looking dapper in a classic black tux.
At the gala, Gere was presented with amfAR’s Award of Inspiration. “Few in the entertainment industry have done as much as Richard Gere to advance the fight against AIDS,” amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost said in a press release.
“His humanitarian instincts and deep desire to help those on the margins of society, make him an inspiration to us all here at amfAR,” Frost added.
Gere has been vocal in campaigning for AIDS awareness for more than 20 years and has received many awards for his efforts.
Per AARP Magazine, in 2002, Gere created the charity Healing the Divide, whose goal is to help communities in Asia, the Middle East and the United States take on social and cultural struggles, which included HIV/AIDS awareness early on.

Antonio Banderas and film producer Mohammed Al Turki were also honored at the amfAR Gala. The event, which was hosted by Kate Beckinsale, featured performances by Kelly Rowland and Rumer Willis.
The goal of the Foundation for AIDS Research is to end the AIDS epidemic with the help of life-saving research.
Gere and Silva reconnected in 2014 and began dating not long after. Silva told Hola! in 2015 that she had known Gere for more than a decade, and there was chemistry as soon as the pair reconnected.
“Our karma was attracted the moment we saw each other,” she said at the time.
“I’m not ignoring our age difference and what it means to be with a Hollywood star, but when there’s such a strong karmic energy, the problems disappear,” Silva added.

The couple has been married since 2018. They share two sons, Alexander, 5, and his younger brother, 4, whose name remains unknown.
Silva has another son named Albert, 11, with ex-husband Govin Friedland. Gere shares his son Homer with ex-wife Carey Lowell.
