One of the World’s Most Dangerous Snakes Is Found Under a Bedroom Pillow ArticlePure

A man returned home to find an unexpected and uninvited guest had slithered into his bedroom while he was away.

According to UPI, a man from Stellenbosch, South Africa, recently discovered a live cape cobra coiled underneath a pillow on his bed. In response, the man called Stellenbosch Snake Removals for assistance.

The company sent expert snake catcher Emile Rossouw to assist with removing the reptile. In a video clip of the removal posted Nov. 24 on Facebook, Stellenbosch Snake Removals notes that cape cobras are “highly venomous.”

“This snake varies in color from near black to dark or light brown, beige, yellow, or speckled, while juveniles have a dark band on the throat. The Cape Cobra is easily confused with the Mole Snake and the Black Spitting Cobra,” the company shared on Facebook, along with a clip of Rossouw removing the cape cobra from the home.

“It is by far our most dangerous cobra, and with the Black Mamba, it accounts for the majority of fatal snake bites in South Africa,” Stellenbosch Snake Removals added on social media.

In the clip of the cobra’s removal, Rossouw lifts the pillow the venomous snake is hiding under to show viewers that the reptile is lurking under the bed covers. The video continues with the expert snake catcher gently pulling the dangerous animal from under the pillow using a long-handled hook and his bare hands.

“Not something you want in your bed,” Rossouw quips in the clip while showing the cobra to the camera.

The video of the shocking moment ends with Rossouw patiently placing the wiggly snake in a container while the stunned residents of the home watch on.

Thankfully, no one was injured during this wild animal encounter, but Stellenbosch Snake Removals suggests anyone bitten by a cape cobra seek immediate medical help.

Dangerous snakes have a habit of turning up where they are least expected (and wanted) sometimes. In September, a Virginia man narrowly avoided getting bit by a copperhead snake after the venomous reptile appeared on his washing machine located in his bedroom.
