Nick Cannon is laughing off the idea of a possible reconciliation with ex-wife Mariah Carey — at least on her end.
While attending the Fox Fall Press Day on Thursday, Sept. 5, in Los Angeles, the actor and TV personality addressed recent comments he made that he would “absolutely” get back together with the “Fantasy” singer, 55.
“Yeah, she don’t want me,” Cannon, 43, tells PEOPLE. “She’s moved on from my crazy antics.”
In August, Cannon revealed to E! News that he is hopeful he and Carey — who were married for six years before splitting in 2014 — could have a second shot at love.
“We belong together,” he told the outlet, adding that he would “absolutely” get back together with the five-time Grammy winner and that it would “be stupid if [he] didn’t.”
Since going their separate ways, Cannon and Carey have continued to raise their twins — Moroccan and Monroe, born in 2011 — together. The Masked Singer host also went on to welcome 10 more kids with five other partners.
Cannon notes that he and the women are doing well at co-parenting: “Yeah, I mean, to their credit, you know what I mean? Dealing with me must be madness,” he says at the Fox event.
He says the secret to making his unconventional family dynamics work is “just putting the kids first.”
“At the end of the day, if you put the kids first and remove ego, you can do anything,” he tells PEOPLE, sharing that he and his large brood just enjoyed “a great summer” together.

“We hung out in Malibu, traveled and went to the beach a lot,” recalls Cannon, who is set to star in season 2 of the Fox crime drama Accused. “So I think all the kids really enjoyed themselves.”
Now, his family is jumping into the back-to-school season, which he says brings back “fun” memories from his own childhood. “It reminds me of when I was in school, school shopping for clothes, getting the kids excited,” he explains, before admitting that not all of his kids are as enthused about returning to the classroom. “I have a 7-year-old in fourth grade [son Golden Sagon], and he’s just so smart that even school is boring to him.”
Cannon continues, “So it’s like getting him re-engaged and excited because he had so much fun during the summer. So, all right, ‘We can still have just as much fun during the school year,’ but it’s kind of just keeping the excitement.”
As for how he feels about now being a dad to teenagers — Moroccan and Monroe turned 13 in April — he says it’s “very scary.”
“Teenagers are scary. I feel like I’m still a teenager,” Cannon admits. “To see my daughter literally becoming a young woman before my eyes, it is very scary.”
