The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast is still wrapping their heads around their newfound fame.

In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, Layla Taylor and Miranda McWhorter opened up about getting recognition from celebrities who are fans of the show.

“Gosh, me and Jessi just recently did a press trip that we went to New York [for], and we saw Ashton Kutcher. And we’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, okay, we’re going to go up and say hi to him,’ ” she recalls.

“We love him, he’s an amazing actor, obviously. So we walked up to him and he is like, ‘Oh my God, I love your show,’ ” she reveals.

Layla and Jessi were both in disbelief as Kutcher explained, “Me and my wife watch it all the time.”

“And then [he] FaceTime’s her! So I think that one was one that I was like [starstruck],” she continues. “She was like, ‘Oh my God, I love you guys! Did he tell you I’ve made him watch your show?’ ”

Of the experience, Layla added, “I feel like it’s normal when I see normal people watching it, but when I see high celebrities, I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’ ”

Agreeing, Miranda adds, “I know! Like Lana Del Rey being a huge fan,” referring to the singer’s fun social media exchange with castmate Mikayla Matthews earlier this year.  

“I think it’s kind of crazy still,” Layla says. “Like, ‘What do you mean you’re watching us? We’re just Mormon moms,’ but it’s so cool.”
