Kristen Stewart has reunited with her ex-boyfriend Michael Angarano in a unique way.
Stewart, 34, and Angarano, 37, posed alongside Angarano’s wife Maya Erskine at a special screening of the film Sacramento held at Los Angeles’ Vista Theatre. The film initially premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2024 and hits theaters on April 11. All three star in the film, along with Michael Cera.
Sacramento is a road trip comedy film that follows a pair of friends making an impromptu journey from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Angarano co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Smith, and also directed and starred in the film.

Stewart and Angarano were in a relationship as teenagers from 2005 to 2009. The pair met while co-starring in the 2004 coming-of-age drama Speak. Stewart went on to date her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson until 2013.
Angarano married Erskine in a quiet ceremony in 2024, and the couple welcomed their first child, son Leon Frederick, in 2021 and their second, a daughter, in 2024. Stewart is currently engaged to screenwriter Dylan Meyer, who she has been in a relationship with since 2019.
Angarano told Variety in June 2024 that Stewart was his top choice for the role. “I’ve known Kristen since we were like 12 years old,” he said.
He went on to explain, “we did not write it with Kristen in mind. But you get a list of stars when you make anything that the people who control the money are interested in having be in the film. Kristen was obviously on the very top tier of that list. We knew she’d be great in the role and she’s a person who has a history of doing smaller films like this.”

While none of the main cast are from Sacramento, Angarano found inspiration in road signs throughout Los Angeles that encouraged drivers to take a road trip there. The actor elaborated to Variety, saying “we had just been to a batting cage and we were driving back and we saw the sign and we just played a game of chicken.”
He continued, “it was like, ‘hey, want to go to Sacramento?’ ‘Yeah, sure. Why not?’ And it became sort of an inside joke. Like what if you just picked a random place and went there for no reason at all?”
The film hits theaters nationwide in the U.S. on April 11.
