Francia Raisa is getting candid about her reproductive health following a recent diagnosis.
On Wednesday, June 26, the How I Met Your Father star, 35, shared an Instagram carousel, revealing in her caption that in addition to PCOS, she recently received a new diagnosis that could possibly affect her ability to carry a child.
“I’ve been very open about my health, especially my PCOS. But in the past two weeks, things took a serious turn,” Raisa’s lengthy caption began.
She explained that after visiting multiple doctors and health specialists for years, she wasn’t any closer to knowing what was going on with her body.
“I found a new gynecologist who told me that I also have SIBO and endometriosis, which puts me at a very high risk of having complicated pregnancies in the future,” the actress wrote. “I was in shock.”
Raisa called the results surprising, adding that she works hard to take care of herself.
“With all the advances in medicine, there still isn’t enough research being done into women’s specific health care to really understand how women like me are able to ensure our opportunity to have a healthy life and family,” Raisa wrote.
The Grown-ish talent shifted her focus to abortion rights, adding that “our rights as women … are being attacked – and it pisses me off!”
Raisa thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for inviting her “to participate in a fireside chat in Arizona to discuss women’s rights and reproductive freedoms to mark the two year anniversary of that awful Dobbs decision.”
In the cover photo, she smiled while posing in front of Air Force One, and thanked Harris “for the ride back to LA.”
Raisa revealed her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis in August 2023.
The condition is known to cause unpredictable ovulation, irregular menstrual cycles, and missed periods, the Cleveland Clinic explains on its website. Associated risks for individuals who are diagnosed with the disorder can include diabetes and high blood pressure.
Other celebrities that have talked about their PCOS diagnosis include Bebe Rexha, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, and Romee Strijd.
In 2021, Raisa appeared as a guest on The Talk where she opened up about freezing her eggs, revealing that she ended up with 28 after her retrieval.

“I don’t want to settle. I really want to wait for the right person. … I really want to be friends with someone first and really know you, because I don’t want to have to worry about that again ever,” she said at the time. “Now I’m not in a rush to, you know, get into a relationship because my ‘biological clock is ticking.'”
She also admitted it was “not as easy as I thought it would be,” and said she “cried all the time” during the two-week process.
