Basketballs weren’t the only things flying through the air in Norman, Okla., on Wednesday night during the Oklahoma-Kentucky men’s NCAA game.

After Kentucky narrowly defeated the Sooners 83-82 at Lloyd Noble Center, fans threw objects at the Wildcats, including a beer that almost hit one player.

While the Kentucky team hustled into the tunnel off the court, Oklahoma fans booed, with one hurling a can of beer that came close to hitting one team member, as captured in a video from the moment.

The game was hotly contested throughout, thanks to the return of Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison, two Wildcats who used to play college ball in Oklahoma.

Oweh played for the Sooners for two seasons while Garrison was formerly at Oklahoma State. 

The former had a career night with 28 points, including the game-winner, while the latter blocked a last-second shot by Oklahoma.

“My emotions got a little hot when I got the block and realized we got the win,” Garrison said, according to The Oklahoman.

Throughout the game, Sooner fans let the tandem know their displeasure, and fans chanted “traitor” when Oweh went to the foul line.

After the game, Garrison — who finished with 12 points, four rebounds, three steals and three blocks — brought his daughter to the podium while he spoke with reporters.

“Just me being back home, they tried to get up under my skin right when I got in the game,” Garrison said. “Things got a little chippy at the end, but it’s just basketball — nothing more, nothing less.”
