Christina Haack is reuniting with another ex-husband on The Flip Off!

In a sneak peek that aired at the end of last night’s episode of the HGTV series, the designer, 41, reveals the surprising person she chose to be the guest judge for episode 4 next week.

Christina is on the phone with her opponents in the house flipping showdown, her first husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather when she breaks the news.  

“Have you picked the judge yet?” asks Heather, 37.

Seemingly holding back a laugh, Christina responds her pick: “My second ex-husband… Anthony Anstead,”

Heather exclaims, “What?” as Tarek, 43, throws his hands in the air, adding, “Oh my god.”

The scene then cuts to a short preview of Anstead, 45, in his role as judge, and he appears to show both teams some tough love.

Standing with Christina in the property she’s flipping, the British-born TV presenter and master mechanic tells her, “The small details in here are really driving me crazy.”

Christina fires back, “Like?”

“The paint is missing in the corner there. That isn’t finished correctly,” he starts, pointing out the issues. 

Later, at the El Moussas’ flip house, Anstead tells Heather he strongly disagrees with one of her design choices: “At no point in human existence should anybody put wallpaper on the ceilings,” he says.

The preview then ends on a cliffhanger as Anstead, who is currently starring in his own home renovation show in the U.K., prepares to deliver his verdict to both teams.

“I came in thinking this was about the design, the execution. But actually, this isn’t about houses at all,” Anstead says. 

Tarek whispers to his wife, “What’s going on right now?” and Christina gives him some side eye just as the scene cuts off.

Ahead of The Flip Off’s Jan. 29 series premiere, Tarek and Heather revealed to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that they were in complete shock when they found out the Christina on the Coast star had enlisted another ex-husband to be on the show. 

They explained how the situation especially caught them off guard because they had no clue Christina and Anstead were even on speaking terms following their bitter divorce in 2020.

“All of a sudden they’re besties,” Tarek recalled of his reaction to seeing Anstead and Christina interact on set. Heather added that it “really threw us off” because they were under the impression that Christina and Ant “weren’t talking.” 

She explained how watching Christina and Anstead’s reconciliation “unfold in front of our eyes” was a whirlwind experience. 

“[Christina] started following [Ant] on Instagram and we were like, ‘What? What’s going on?’ It really was like that for us,” she said at the time. “You see it transpire on TV and we’re so thrown off by the situation. I think we texted her, ‘Why are you following Ant? What’s going on?’”

Referring to Tarek, Christina chimed in, “I feel like some of [the judges] that I picked were just to mess with him. It worked.” 

Fans first got a hint that Anstead might be joining the show when Christina joked about her second husband replacing her estranged third husband Josh Hall on the series after his abrupt exit. Josh was initially set to be Christina’s teammate on the competition show before he filed for divorce in July 2024.

Christina and Anstead were then spotted filming together in November 2024, and a source told PEOPLE at the time: “Ant is going to appear on the show, but he won’t be Christina’s partner.”

Their unexpected reconciliation came after the pair, who wed in December 2018, went through a difficult divorce. They announced they were separating in September 2020 and finalized their divorce in June 2021.

While the pair were previously involved in a heated custody battle over their 5-year-old son Hudson, they have since made amends. Christina told Backgrid in August that Hudson “deserves to have us get along.”

Christina is now dating businessman Christopher Larocca, and Anstead has been in a nearly four-relationship with Oscar-winning actress Renée Zellweger.
