Anna Cancer Worsens, June Makes Custody Offer ArticlePure

Mama June: Family Crisis is back and the family is preparing for a difficult road ahead.

The June 14 episode kicked off with an ongoing fight between Mama June Shannon and husband Justin Stroud about whether June was going to pay her youngest daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, back the money she allegedly owed. While June feared it would create a cycle of Alana continuing to ask for money, Justin disagreed.

“Make it right!” he shouted before storming out of the house, before June responded: “I can’t keep making up for past mistakes.”

As Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana returned to the car, they blamed June for withholding $30,000 Alana earned as a child. “The point of the matter is that you’re a piece of s— mom and you took somebody’s money,” Pumpkin said.

Inside, June agreed that it was Alana’s money, but Alana spent it “on her own self,” maintaining that she did nothing wrong.

“As a parent, that’s what you do June,” Justin snapped back. “Whether it’s successful or not, that’s what you do as a parent — you invest in them to a certain extent.”

Leaving June to think, Alana flew back to Colorado.

Meanwhile, Jessica Shannon and her partner Shyann McCant revealed their plans to have a baby together, sharing that Shyann would carry the child.

“Do you know how hard it is to find somebody that’s actually decent in this world?” Jessica questioned after Shyann said she was “excited” for their next chapter.

Across town, Justin met up with his mom to explain the situation with June, saying he would “leave her” if she doesn’t give Alana the money.

“June lives on another planet sometimes,” he said. “You took the girl’s money, it’s her money.”

But June was dealing with other matters after receving a call from daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, who said she had been in severe pain for days. Because June doesn’t have a driver’s license, she resorted to calling Justin to go pick her up.

Justin left lunch with his mom and brought Anna and June to the cancer emergency room, where she said she has “stabbing” pain that is “unbearable.” June admitted that the family knew there was a possibility Anna’s health could decline, but they had been optimistic after her recent improvement.

“Her hair was growing back, she was able to take the kids to school, she was able to spend time with everybody, she was able to cook dinners for the family — do all the things that she wanted to do,” June explained. “Then boom, this happens. She’s in more excruciating pain.”

Following a long wait for test results, Anna discovered she had a kidney infection and her tumors had grown to “triple the sizes they were.” Fearing that she messed up her recovery by “eating a lot of sweets,” Anna tried to stay positive, even though she was no longer eligible for chemotherapy.

“We knew her cancer was very aggressive, but that’s not the news that we want to hear,” June said. “She’s not giving up her fight, no. She’s been fighting hard and she will continue to fight until her last breath.”

Cutting back to Shyann and Jessica, the two discussed asking Pumpkin’s husband, Josh, to donate sperm for their baby. Jessica took Pumpkin to lunch to “drop that bomb,” nervous for her sister’s response.

“You ain’t never wanted kids,” Pumpkin said at the idea of Jessica being a mom. “It ain’t as easy as I make it look or fun as I make it look either.”

Jessica explained how she had changed her mind, but Pumpkin insisted having kids is “a trap.” Jessica then received a call from June, telling her that Anna likely “won’t be here at this time next year,” so they put the baby discussion on hold.

Discussing who would take custody of Anna’s daughter Kaitlyn, June insisted Anna wants her to become the guardian, but the conversation ended there. On the way home, Pumpkin decided to break the news to Alana, who was back at college, and Alana debated taking a semester off of school.

“This is exactly what I was kind of scared for when I first moved out here, was that something like this was gonna happen and I was going to have to come home and Anna would be gone already,” Alana said.

Later that night, Pumpkin told Josh that she thinks it’s “weird” Anna would want June to have custody of Kaitlyn because June “didn’t even take care of” Anna. She wondered if it was “a money issue,” but Josh noted that “money does not make a mom.”

Amidst the stress, Alana got a notice that her boyfriend Dralin had a court date he was unaware of. “I don’t know what we’re gonna do,” she said, upset.

Back to the conversation about custody, June stood strong in her belief that she should get Kaitlyn. She also wanted Anna and her husband to move in with her, so she could care for her during her last days.

“Some people don’t think I deserve or I need Kaitlyn because I willingly gave up custody of Alana,” June explained. “My life has been a crazy rollercoaster but also I have been clean for four years. I’m doing good with my life. I’m back on track, and I will attest to anyone that says I do not deserve Kaitlyn, including my own children.”
