Andy Cohen’s Son, 6, Has Sassy Response to Dad Explaining ‘Star Wars’ ArticlePure

  • Andy Cohen shared a relatable (and hilarious) video with his son Ben in honor of Star Wars Day on Sunday, May 4
  • The clip showed Cohen trying to explain the deeper meaning behind the death of Darth Vader in 1983’s original-trilogy finale Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi
  • “Darth Vader, he did die, but he died happy. And he didn’t kill his son and his son didn’t kill him,” Cohen told his own unimpressed son

Andy Cohen has his work cut out for him as a dad to a Star Wars fan!

In honor of Star Wars Day on Sunday, May 4, the Bravo star and his son Benjamin “Ben” Allen watched 1983’s original-trilogy finale Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, after which Cohen’s 6-year-old had some thoughts.

“The bad guy died,” Cohen, 56, said of the villainous Darth Vader in his conversation with an offscreen Ben, shared in a video on Cohen’s Instagram grid.

“Yes, that’s what I’m talking about, thank you!” came Ben’s sassy reply.

“So why are you upset about that? Because he died?” replied the father of two, to which his son retorted, “Yes. And he’s one of my favorite characters in Star Wars, thank you.”

Attempting to appeal to Ben’s moral nature during his “DadSplaining” of the film’s ending, Cohen pressed, “But when he died, he was freed by Luke. Do you understand that? He wasn’t bad anymore, which is the most important thing.”

“Ugh,” Ben could be hear saying.

“Well it’s really important!” Cohen said. “Darth Vader, he did die, but he died happy. And he didn’t kill his son and his son didn’t kill him.”

The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host captioned his hilarious post, “He hated the ending! #MayTheFourthBeWithYou.”

Cohen’s conversation with Ben is only one of the recent relatable parenting moments he has shared to social media. On Tuesday, April 29, the proud dad asked his daughter Lucy Eve in a video on Instagram if there was anything special she wanted for her birthday this year.

As the two were sitting at a table, the little girl said there was one thing she wanted — and it wasn’t necessarily what one might expect!

“Lucy, it’s your third birthday tomorrow. What do you want for your birthday?” Cohen asked.

“Underwear,” Lucy said.

“Okay, well, that’s easy,” replied her dad. “Just the underwear is all you want? Okay great. Sounds great. Aw. I love you.”
