With so many reboots and sequels of nostalgic shows in the works, Adam Scott has a couple of ideas for how the Parks and Recreation story could continue.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly editorial director Gerrad Hall on this week’s episode of EW’s Awardist podcast, Scott was asked which characters from the show he’d like to see be the focus of a sequel show, if there ever were one.

“Probably Jerry,” Scott, 52, replied, referencing the character played by actor Jim O’Heir.

In the series finale, viewers got a glimpse of how the Parks and Rec characters’ lives continued after the show, learning that Jerry was later elected mayor of Pawnee in a write-in campaign and held the position until his 100th birthday.

“I think because when we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee,” Scott said of Jerry. “I’d like to see how that worked out, if there were any scandals or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run.”

Scott added, “I feel like Jerry would’ve done a terrific job.”

But he wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel focusing on another character, too — Tom, played by Aziz Ansari.

“I think also Tom would be a good one to check in with, find out what’s going on with Tom, with Aziz’s character,” he says.

In the finale episode, viewers learned that Tom operated his restaurant, Tom’s Bistro, until an economic recession threatened his success. He then wrote a bestselling book, which was parlayed into a career as a motivational speaker.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 2024, Scott spoke about his love for the show, which ended in 2015 after seven seasons.

“It’s so fun. I really love that show. I was into it before I even joined. I was a big fan,” he said.

Though a decade has passed since the sitcom was on air, Scott added that the cast has kept close.

“I miss everybody. We all are on a text chain, and at least once a week we all add to the chain, and it’s great. Everyone’s so great. I really miss them,” he told PEOPLE. “They’re the best. It was so fun. No one took it for granted. We all had a blast… I know people say that about their shows. It’s annoying, but it really was so fun, and everyone … got that it was special, and no one was sick of going to work.”
