When it comes to clothing and accessories, I’m very easily influenced. 

Suffice to say, as a celebrity shopping writer, much of my closet has been swayed by the likes of Oprah, Nicole Kidman, Meghan Markle, and more A-listers. For instance, I’ve worn my new Cozy Earth shorts set, an Oprah-approved brand, three separate times since it was gifted to me just last week; I’ve layered my travel-friendly cardigan, inspired by Nicole Kidman’s, over everything from tank tops to pajama shirts; and Iike Meghan Markle, I’ve been practically living in ballet flats. You could argue that my closet isn’t even my closet. 

So, when I recently started packing for a 10-day European vacation, I noticed that my suitcase was filled with all of these exceptional celeb-inspired pieces. And I needed to share the love and let you in on the pieces that are worth it for both travel and everyday life.

Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, and Katie Holmes have gotten me into big bags like this Aldo one. I’ve found they’re practical for summer: I can pack a water bottle, a book, and I’m always prepared to touch up my makeup with when I start sweating it off. 

Having said that, I also know that a roomy bag can weigh you down, and sometimes you need a petite purse. Luckily, this set also comes with a crossbody bag. Sub it in when you need something smaller or when you just need a change of pace. 

Caslon Drawstring Straight-Leg Linen Pants

I will not wear tight pants in the summer, period. In fact, I only wear pants that are super comfortable and keep me cool, like the loose-fitting linen styles seen on Jennifer Lawrence, Holmes, and Emma Watson. (This is especially crucial when going abroad.) 

I have a white pair, but I’d recommend getting something darker like these from Caslon. I always have to wear a pair of shorts under my light pair since they’re see-through, but with these, you shouldn’t need that extra layer. They’re also easy to wear day and night, so you can pack one less thing.

In my humble opinion, they’re the best type of sleeve because they make even simple styles, like a basic T-shirt, look fresh and feminine (Reese Witherspoon knows a thing or two about this). This $59 Lulus dress has them, plus the celeb-fancied pattern Jennifer Aniston and Mindy Kaling are wearing. 

They’re also not hot like a long drapey sleeve, and they won’t fall down like an ill-fitting spaghetti strap. And depending on where you’re going for vacation, it’s always good to have at least one shoulder-covering outfit — you never know what places might have dress code regulations.
