A young boy sustained injuries after a boat exploded on Lake Texoma over the weekend, authorities say.
On Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2:45 p.m. local time, Oklahoma’s Madill Fire Department was dispatched after receiving a call of a reported explosion at Bridgeview Marina, according to a statement from the department.
“There were individuals on the boat at the time of the explosion. One of the individuals was flown to a higher level of care for minor burns, and no other injuries were reported,” fire officials said.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that there were three people on the boat at the time, a 5-year-old boy, a 25-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman, according to local ABC affiliate WFAA. The two women did not sustain any injuries, but the young boy was flown to the Parkland Burn Center in Dallas, Texas, for multiple burns he received to his face, arms and legs.
Representatives from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Along with the Tri-City Fire Department, Madill firefighters “drafted water from the lake and were able to extinguish the fire in a timely manner,” officials said.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety told WFAA that the passengers of the boat were in the process of fueling it at the time of the explosion, but when one of them went to start it up, gasoline fumes began to emerge, which led to the explosion.
After being flown to the hospital, the boy’s condition was listed as stable, per the outlet.
An investigation remains ongoing.
